Today the Senate Armed Services Committee investigates the “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy implemented by the military in the early’90s. Some top military leaders like Gen. David Petraeus have advocated a change in the policy. Sen. John McCain has stated his belief that the policy should not change. How do you feel about the “don’t ask, don’t tell” issue?

Having served in the military and retired from it. I can truthfully say, I didn’t give a flying flip about who was gay or who wasn’t. As long as the job that needed getting done was getting done that’s all I worried about. A person sexual preference is their own business. If they make it known to me what their preference is and I don’t agree with it, then I’ll let them know so that we can have an understanding where each other stand. And let’s face it, when your are in the military the primary job is being a paid killer when the need arrives and if you can’t do that, then you don’t need to be in.
Open tolerance of this abhorent behavior will lead to the leaving of many seasoned soldiers and declines in enlistments. This immoral behavior of a small minority may be legal but it should not be condoned or promoted. The elitists have done a superb job of getting most of the public to remain silent out of fear of being called bigotted or publicly shamed. In the majorities true hearts they know that this is as wrong as pedofelia.
I don’t see that it should make a difference what their sexual preference has to do with their military duties. I’ve read where the military has had people make it to officers then be kicked out because of their sexual preference. Thats not right. They were good enought to make officer material tial you found out they preferred their own sex but not to keep i and serve their country. They say we need people to serve our country but if they like their own sex you don’t want them, is that not discrimation? They can fight as good as the next man or woman.
