Bath salts in Florida

So, apparently bath salts cause people to exhibit zombie-like behavior. What the what?! Over the weekend, Americans worried the zombie apocalypse had arrived when reports of a naked man eating the face of another man hit the internet. Then, when we realized it was in Florida, that changed things just a little bit. (Admit it, if that story had come out of Kansas or Idaho or even New Hampshire, you would have freaked out even more, right? Of course you would have.)

In the end, though, the location did not make the details any less horrific and creepifying. The face-eating man was ultimately shot and killed by a Miami policeman. Seriously, if you haven’t heard this story, read all the scary details here. The poor victim of the attack, a homeless man, is still alive.

But bath salts?!? NPR reports the theory is that bath salts are to blame. The story quotes an ABC News report that says this case has some similarities to others happening in Florida. The bath salts, in drug form, were recently banned in the state, but they cause the body’s core temperature to rise and cause people to become violent with “superhuman strength.”

This week’s poll question focuses on this bath salts development.

How shocked are you that bath salts might be the cause of the horrific incidents in Florida?
