The Senate race in Arkansas has been hotly debated and is considered crucial to the balance of power in Congress. These two men disagree on almost every issue and both campaigns are funded heavily.

Thirty months in jail? Priceless.

Jesse Jackson Jr., Sandra JacksonFormer U.S. Representative Jesse Jackson Jr. and his wife, Sandi, were sentenced yesterday for spending $750,000 in campaign money on luxury personal items. Jackson ended up with 30 months in federal prison and his wife will see a year, with their terms served back to back.
If you asked the Jacksons today, I’m sure they would say, “No, it wasn’t worth it.” But then again, if you’re going to use close to $1 million in campaign funds illegally, you might as well do it right.

Body art bans

An Arkansas legislator has proposed a bill that would ban certain types of body art [article behind a pay wall] in the state, including dermal implants and a procedure called scarification, that is much like branding. According to a March 6 article in the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, “In a 26-4 vote, the Senate approved Senate Bill 387 by Sen. Missy Irvin, R-Mountain View, to bar an artist licensed by the state Department of Health from performing or attempting to perform the insertion of a dermal implant or scarification.”
